Surprising life change…
The very one and only and what Brits consider the other side of the World – New Zealand. It’s a long story, but I will keep it short. My husband Neil and I went to New Zealand on our honeymoon back in 2006. We fell in love with the country and promised each other that if one day we had opportunity to move here then we would take it. Neil was offered a job on the South Island, place called Dunedin at the end of 2021. The decision of moving to New Zealand wasn’t easy as we and our 12-year-old daughter then considered England home, and we truly loved England. Leaving family and friends behind, a modern way of living, but also missing New Forest was tough. On the other hand, we got what we yearned for which was so much more life balance – time for walks, family time, watching nature and planning new work projects!
Back in England…
I owned and run home interior design business called New Forest Designs Ltd. in the beautiful New Forest National Park in the South of England. My intention was to continue managing the business from abroad and set up a sister company here. This however proved tricky, and so I intentionally started slowing things down.
What a journey this has turned out to be! We have been living now in New Zealand for the last 9 months. Time flies! The inevitable decision of closing New Forest Designs has opened new door and a very exciting start to Catherine Brennan Home Design! The development of the new business has been taking place since February 2023 after the successful approval of our residency!
The new chapter starts here…
